About Me:
My focus is living in the moment and making the most of the now as it passes. To live in the present moment and be as aware as I can of the beauty contained in lifes breath.
I am reminded of a Zen parable:
A monk was walking and came too close to the edge of a cliff.
He went over the side and grabbed onto a vine that was growing out of the side of the cliff. It was a long way to the bottom and the monk was not going to be able to hold on for very long. He noticed two mice gnawing at the vine that he was clinging to. Then he looked and noticed a flower growing near where he was suspended and he thought, what a beautiful flower!
I understand this to be grand way to illustrate living in the moment. To explain: The mice represent time as it ticks away the minutes and hours of our lives until we die. We know not when because death can come at any time. The vine the monk holds on to is the tenuous grasp we have on this life. And the flower represents the beauty to be found in the moment. We are faced with an uncertain future and an unretrievable past, but we have now. If we look at now and see the beauty then we are living this life as an enlightened being.
